Times Colonist - - The Capital / Island -

The boil water advisory for North Cowichan’s South End water system has been lifted.

A statement from the Municipality of North Cowichan said Island Health has confirmed that there is no longer any evidence of bacterial contamination. Chlorination of the water will continue as a precautionary measure.

Thousands of homes and businesses in the southern part of the municipality, around Somenos and Quamichan lakes and near the boundary with Duncan, were affected by the advisory after bacteria was detected in a municipal reservoir.
