Give coun­cil credit for con­vert­ing ho­tels

Re: “Har­bour Tow­ers Ho­tel cleared for re­de­vel­op­ment as apart­ments,” Sept. 9. Politi­cians are con­stantly be­ing crit­i­cized for not giv­ing at­ten­tion to the cur­rent hous­ing prob­lems.

It is time to give credit to Vic­to­ria city coun­cil for re­zon­ing lo­cal ho­tels so they can be re­pur­posed to res­i­den­tial hous­ing. This is cer­tainly a pos­i­tive step to keep­ing some of the beau­ti­ful build­ings and sites in­tact in the city.
