UVic Vikes women beat Wesmen to earn weekend sweep
Kyra Teetzen’s goal gave the University of Victoria Vikes a 1-0 Canada West women’s victory over the University of Winnipeg Wesmen in Saturday night soccer action at Centennial Stadium.
The Vikes moved to 3-1-1 on the season after a weekend sweep of the University of Manitoba Bisons and Wesmen to make their case to move back into the U Sports national top-10 poll. The Vikes fell out last weekend after being No. 9 the week before.
In Canada West men’s soccer, the UVic Vikes (2-4-1) carry a two-game winning streak into today’s game against the Mount Royal Cougars of Calgary at 2 p.m. at Centennial Stadium.
In women’s field-hockey, a goal by freshman Leina Dueck gave host UVic a 1-1 draw against the UBC Thunderbirds in the opening game of the Canada West season on Saturday.
The national powerhouses meet again today at 11 a.m. at UVic.
