Business owners pay much more tax
Re: “Horgan not credible on taxation,” letter, Oct. 7.
It should be further noted that most businesses in our province occupy property zoned commercially (retail, industrial or office).
Depending on which municipality they are in, the property taxes these businesses pay are up to four times the rate paid by residences. But wait, there’s more.
The folks who own and operate these businesses also occupy a residence and therefore are paying five times the taxes of public servants and other employees. Tax fairness? I don’t think so. J. Edmund Higgin Victoria
