Film and me­dia job fair on to­day at UVic

The Reel Ca­reers in Film and Me­dia job fair gets un­der­way to­day at the Uni­ver­sity of Vic­to­ria, with two Vic­to­ria-raised film­mak­ing vet­er­ans among the dozens of pan­el­lists who are con­duct­ing free workshops.

Award-win­ning an­i­ma­tor Den­ver Jackson (Samu­rai Cops) and spe­cial-ef­fects guru Ryan Ni­chol­son (Preda­tor) are among those par­tic­i­pat­ing in the film and tele­vi­sion pro­duc­tion in­dus­try event, which is hosted by the Van­cou­ver Is­land Film and Me­dia Com­mis­sion. Panel dis­cus­sions and sem­i­nars will be of­fered free of charge from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Michele Pu­jol Room and the Up­per Lounge board­room in the uni­ver­sity’s Stu­dent Union Build­ing.

Dozens of dis­ci­plines will be top­ics of dis­cus­sion. The ca­reer fair in­cludes the Short Cuts screen­ing pro­gram at Cine­centa.
