Statutory release was revoked
A headline in Friday’s edition incorrectly stated that Darwin Dorozan, the father of Kelly Ellard’s son, was denied parole. In fact, the Parole Board of Canada revoked Dorozan’s legislated statutory release.
All federal offenders serving fixed-length sentences are entitled to statutory release after serving two-thirds of their sentence, unless they are deemed likely to commit a serious offence before the end of their sentence. Statutory release is not parole.
