This month, Starfleet’s newest vessel boldly goes where no one has gone before: Toronto’s Pinewood Studios. Star Trek: Discovery—the sci-fi franchise’s first television series since 2005’s Enterprise—was filmed largely in the east-end facility. It follows the rise of a young officer (The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green) and, rumour has it, the fraught mission to broker peace between the Federation and the Klingons. It’s a new crew, a different ship and uncharted worlds, but diehard Trekkies will find plenty they’re familiar with: Romulans, Spock’s father and, we can only imagine, a new batch of unlucky redshirts.
