Midnight Madness

As Ford imposes his will on Toronto, protesters push back

Toronto Life - - This City -

Whatever you thought of Premier Doug Ford’s decision to slash the number of city council seats from 47 to 25 (and it should be noted that only half of Torontonians oppose the idea), we can probably all agree that the manner in which the decision was delivered— against the ruling of a provincial judge and weeks before the mayoral election—was less than ideal. That’s certainly what protesters outside Queen’s Park were thinking when police were called in to prevent them from entering the midnight legislature session to push through Bill 31—an ominous sign of more clashes to come.
