Re Who owns the podium? Expectatio­ns have

changed, March 27 “A conductor doesn’t have to be a musician,” says opinionate­d conductor Tania Miller. What an odd statement. Not a musician! Then she implies that soprano Barbara Hannigan is not a musician even though she has sung in major production­s in Canada and abroad. Hannigan is definitely a musician. I would not want to attend a choral or instrument­al event if I knew the conductor was not a musician. Isabel Ward, Toronto
