Cana­dian Marchant seventh in New York

NEW YORK— Lanni Marchant of Lon­don, Ont., fin­ished seventh Sunday — the best-ever re­sult for a Cana­dian woman in the New York Marathon. The Cana­dian record-holder crossed in two hours, 33 min­utes, 50 sec­onds. Mary Kei­tany was the run­away women’s win­ner for the third time, run­ning es­sen­tially alone for the fi­nal 16 kilo­me­tres. She clocked 2:24:26. Ghir­may Ghe­bres­lassie was the men’s win­ner in his New York de­but in 2:07:51, in a record field of 52,049 en­tries.
