Canadian Marchant seventh in New York
NEW YORK— Lanni Marchant of London, Ont., finished seventh Sunday — the best-ever result for a Canadian woman in the New York Marathon. The Canadian record-holder crossed in two hours, 33 minutes, 50 seconds. Mary Keitany was the runaway women’s winner for the third time, running essentially alone for the final 16 kilometres. She clocked 2:24:26. Ghirmay Ghebreslassie was the men’s winner in his New York debut in 2:07:51, in a record field of 52,049 entries.
