Farrell suspended for spat with ump

-

Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell was suspended one game and fined for poking umpire Bill Miller in the chest during Saturday’s game against the Angels. The dispute began after Boston reliever Fernando Abad was called for a balk in the seventh inning. Farrell, who sat out Tuesday’s game against the Twins, went nose to nose with Miller, touched the umpire’s shirt and was tossed. Farrell felt that a timeout had been called before the balk.
