Com­edy fans, you’re in luck be­cause JFL42 — the Toronto edition of the enor­mous Just for Laughs fes­ti­val in Mon­treal — is here with names such as, but cer­tainly not lim­ited to, Ali Wong, Bill Burr, John Mu­laney, Tim & Eric, Mike Bir­biglia, Jenny Slate, Roy Wood Jr., Jen Kirk­man, Hari Kond­abolu, W. Ka­mau Bell, Michelle Wolf, Sasheer Za­mata, and live tap­ings of pod­casts My Fa­vorite Mur­der, Guys We F---ed and Last Pod­cast on the Left.

This sea­son, the pro­lific Toronto dance com­pany Cole­man Lemieux & Com­pag­nie be­comes Ci­tadel + Com­pag­nie, a tit­u­lar em­brace of its home at the Ci­tadel per­for­mance space in Cab­bage­town and a farewell to de­part­ing co-artis­tic di­rec­tor Bill Cole­man. Now, Laurence Lemieux is break­ing in the com­pany’s new iden­tity with Fac­tory, a new piece by cho- re­og­ra­pher Michael Caldwell (who won a Dora Award last year as a per­former).

The Toronto News­girls Box­ing Club is a beloved, im­por­tant and ground­break­ing or­ga­ni­za­tion that pro­vides com­mu­nity and em­pow­er­ment to fe­male and fe­male-iden­ti­fy­ing Toron­to­ni­ans through box­ing.

Its founder, Savoy “Kapow!” Howe, is cel­e­brat­ing her 25th year as a boxer and coach, so she’s briefly re­viv­ing her solo show News­girl — which opened this year’s Soulo The­atre Fes­ti­val di­rected by Tracey Erin Smith — lit­er­ally in­side the News­girls box­ing ring. This is prob­a­bly the only time you’d want to en­ter the ring with Howe, but af­ter the first round, you’ll be hooked.
