Giant attraction a miniature thrill Irish say
It’s a World Heritage Site, a polltopping tourist destination and a key filming site for the fantasy series Game of Thrones. But the 40,000 interlocking basalt columns that make up the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland are also a massive letdown, a poll in Ireland has found.
In a snap survey by the Irish Times, social media users voted the natural wonder the “most overrated and underwhelming” tourist attraction in the world.
But local politicians were quick to condemn the findings. Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick said the Causeway welcomed more than 900,000 visitors last year, and the majority go away satisfied with the “mystery, magic and legend” of the attraction.
