Ar­rest in death

A 21-year-old has been ar­rested for al­legedly beat­ing an­other young man to death in Mis­sis­sauga over Thanks­giv­ing week­end.

Peel Re­gional Po­lice say of­fi­cers re­sponded to a med­i­cal call near Queen St. S. and Tan­nery St. around 2:45 a.m. last Satur­day and found a 23-year-old man suf­fer­ing from blunt force trauma in­juries.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors be­lieve the in­juries, which proved fa­tal, oc­curred dur­ing a phys­i­cal al­ter­ca­tion.

Alan Con­nor Drew was rushed to a lo­cal hospi­tal where he died the next day.

Po­lice re­vealed Thurs­day that a sus­pect in the re­gion’s 13th homi­cide of the year has been ar­rested.

Cameron Bakker, of Mis­sis­sauga, was taken into cus­tody Wed­nes­day and charged with man­slaugh­ter.

Friends of the vic­tim — known as “Dew” or Dewy” — have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to pay for a memo­rial bench with a plaque hon­our­ing him.
