Arrest in death
A 21-year-old has been arrested for allegedly beating another young man to death in Mississauga over Thanksgiving weekend.
Peel Regional Police say officers responded to a medical call near Queen St. S. and Tannery St. around 2:45 a.m. last Saturday and found a 23-year-old man suffering from blunt force trauma injuries.
Investigators believe the injuries, which proved fatal, occurred during a physical altercation.
Alan Connor Drew was rushed to a local hospital where he died the next day.
Police revealed Thursday that a suspect in the region’s 13th homicide of the year has been arrested.
Cameron Bakker, of Mississauga, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with manslaughter.
Friends of the victim — known as “Dew” or Dewy” — have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to pay for a memorial bench with a plaque honouring him.
