Crash took ‘love of my life’

Toronto Sun - - NEWS - JANE STEVENSON

The wife of a man killed in a suspected impaired head-on collision east of Newmarket early Monday says her world has been “shattered.”

In a Facebook posting late Monday with a black and white photo of the couple embracing, Justine Ellis said: “This morning my world as I knew it was shattered. The love of my life, best friend and the best daddy in the world was tragically taken from us. My heart is in a million pieces.”

Stuart Ellis, 28, of Beeton, died at 6 a.m Monday on Hwy. 48, south of Davis Dr., when “a northbound vehicle may have drifted over into the southbound lanes and collided with a southbound vehicle, killing the occupant of that southbound car,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.

“I don’t know how to live this life without him by my side, we were supposed to grow old together,” Justine Ellis wrote on her Facebook page, which includes photos of the couple’s year-old son. “I love you forever and a day, my Stu.”

York Regional Police Deputy Chief Tom Carrique told Global News the couple were expecting another child. He said the victim was the son-in-law of a York Regional Police member.

“It’s an absolute travesty, devastation and heartbreak for his family and for our police family this morning,” Carrique said.

A 20-year-old Newmarket man, Tyler Neilsen, was charged in a trauma hospital with impaired driving causing death, taking a vehicle without consent and driving while disqualified.

Schmidt said Neilsen is in serious condition, “but nonlife threatening.”

A car is demolished after a crash on Hwy. 48 at Davis Dr. that killed Stuart Ellis, 28, of Beeton, on Monday.
