Accused ‘armed and dangerous’
Alleged triggerman behind 83rd slaying of the year ID’d
A manhunt is underway for the alleged killer of Toronto’s 83rd homicide victim of 2018.
But if you see Amal Jones, don’t talk to him directly or engage him in any way.
“He is considered armed and dangerous,” warned Toronto Police, who announced Saturday that a warrant was out for Jones’ arrest for second-degree murder.
“If located, contact 911 immediately.”
The 19-year-old is wanted in the murder of Elliott ReidDoyle, 18, who was gunned down in broad daylight on Oct. 3 at at a strip mall at Birchmount Rd. and Bonis Ave.
“We don’t believe that they knew each other prior to the incident and the shooting was a result of that interaction that they had with each other,” veteran homicide Det. Leslie Dunkley told media Friday.
Jones is described as being between 5 feet 10 and 6 feet 2 inches tall, and has a slim build, black hair in cornrows tied at the back, and was wearing a dark-coloured tracksuit.
“I urge the suspect in this case to contact a lawyer and turn himself in,” Dunkley told the media Friday. “It’s just a matter of time before we locate you.”
It seems Jones was captured on a store’s surveillance video.
Now the video and his picture are out there for all to see.
These images should help the public offer tips and clues.
But remember, with the serious allegation against this suspect, and that he’s likely carrying a gun, just call police and let them handle it.
Better yet, Jones, the jig is up.
Be a man and turn yourself in.
A man police have identified as Amal Jones is seen on a security camera shortly after the Oct. 2 murder.
