Tri-County Firefighters Family Fun Day held in Yarmouth

The little guy couldn’t get enough of the children’s firefighters’ combat challenge, running the course over and over.
The 5th annual Tri- County Firefighters Family Fun Day was held Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Mariners Centre in Yarmouth.
The event is a joint effort of participating fire departments in Digby, Yarmouth and Shelburne counties.
The day included equipment displays, children’s activities, fire extinguisher demonstrations and a vehicle extrication demonstration by the Woods Harbour/Shag Harbour Volunteer Fire Department.
The RCMP, EHS, 84th Independent Field Battery and Natural Resources also took part in the day.
Children were shown how to handle fire extinguishers as part of the day’s events.
Woods Harbour/Shag Harbour Volunteer Fire Department members showed members of the public how they can remove doors and also the hood from vehicles to get at trapped occupants.
Children enjoyed the activities involving fire hoses in which they got to put out pretend fires.

The 84th Independent Field Battery took part in the day with a display of some of their military equipment.
The bean bag toss was a popular children’s activity.
Lots of fun was had with fire hoses during the day.
Firefighters from various departments participated in the day’s events.
