Folk music concert coming to Digby
Donovan Thorimbert and Jesse Ens will take the stage at the Sydney Street Pub in Digby on May 16.
With traditional vocals, a fivestring clawhammer banjo and a guitar, the artists will take the audience back in time, touring the country and blues of the 1920s and 30s.
“(The show will) take audiences back to the old times, when there were no cells phones to check and music was the entertainment of the day,” Thorimbert said in a press release.
The musician appreciates the styles of Mississippi John Hurt and Dock Boggs.
“I like to explore, and I love the East Coast, so I’m really excited about coming to Digby,” he said.
Thorimbert visited the Maritimes for the first time in 2014 and since then, he’s been looking forward to coming back and performing.
He and Ens are taking part in their first Eastern Canadian tour together.
Thorimbert has been playing the five-string clawhammer banjo for the last 10 years and Ens has a degree in music. Both artists are originally from Saskatchewan but are living in Quebec.
The concert is from 6-8 p.m. at the Sydney Street Pub on May 16 and it’s free. The pair is also making stops in Antigonish and Halifax.
