Yarmouth duathlon is Sept. 16
Event consists of 5.3K run, 20K bike, then another 5.3 K run
Participants in the recent Lighthouse Triathlon in Yarmouth leave the Milo Boat Club on the bike portion of the event. Milo again will serve as the start/transition/finish area Sunday, Sept. 16, when Yarmouth’s annual duathlon takes place.
One of Yarmouth’s annual athletic events will be held on the last official weekend of summer, as the area’s duathlon takes place Sunday, Sept. 16, with the Milo Boat Club serving as the start and finish.
The event consists of two disciplines – running and biking – starting with a 5.3- kilometre run, followed by a 20K bike and ending with another 5.3K run.
The race gets underway at 9 a. m.
It is open to individuals, as well as teams of two or three people.
Billed as the Du It for Peg Yarmouth Duathlon, the event is held in memory of Peggy Royal, who had been active in the local racing community and volunteered with the Yarmouth Y Whitecaps swim team. She died in 2008 at age 46.
The entry fee is $ 20 for students, $ 30 per adult on a team or $ 40 for an adult participating as an individual.
The fee includes water, race support, post- race meal ( along with a shirt for the first 25 people to register and pay their entry fee.)
Water is available for event’s running portions.
Duathlon participants can register in advance in person at Runner’s Attic at 346 Main St. in Yarmouth or on race day starting at 8 a. m. ( Cash only for both registration options.)
The post- race meal for participants and volunteers will be held at the boat club, starting at 11: 30 a. m. the
