DAWE, John Ernest Moore – Age 91, 92 King St., Shel­burne, passed away Oc­to­ber 2, 2018 in Rose­way Hos­pi­tal, Sandy Point. Born in Hazel Hill, Nova Sco­tia, he was the youngest son of the late Henry Au­gus­tus and May Matilda (Lam­bert) Dawe. John grad­u­ated from St Fran­cis Xavier Uni­ver­sity and Nova Sco­tia Tech­ni­cal Col­lege, with an En­gi­neer­ing di­ploma and B.Sc. de­gree in Chem­i­cal En­gi­neer­ing. He also stud­ied ge­ol­ogy dur­ing this pe­riod and sub­se­quently made a study of geo­chem­istry. He was a pro­fes­sional chem­i­cal en­gi­neer and a mem­ber of APENS (As­so­ci­a­tion of Pro­fes­sional En­gi­neers of Nova Sco­tia), SME (So­ci­ety for Min­ing, Me­tal­lurgy and Ex­plo­ration), and also PDAC (Prospec­tors and De­vel­op­ers As­so­ci­a­tion of Canada.) His long ca­reer spanned over 50 years, fi­nally set­tling in the area he had al­ways had a keen in­ter­est, that of ex­plo­ration, and de­vel­op­ment of gold min­ing in Nova Sco­tia. John is pre­de­ceased by wife Jessie (Meis­ner) Dawe and sur­vived by se­cond wife, Hilda Wil­liams Dawe. He is re­mem­bered with love by son, Vaughn and daugh­ter, Chris­tine. John is also pre­de­ceased by brothers, Stan, Man­ning, Hugh, Charles, Ray, Ralph, and sis­ters, Chlo­ris, Marie, Florence, Naomi and Car­rie. He will also be re­mem­bered fondly by his many nieces, neph­ews, friends, and as­so­ci­ates. Me­mo­rial ser­vice to fol­low at later date.
