Barb’s Race

Triathlon Magazine Canada - - Travel -

Barb Recchia has volunteered for the Vineman events since they began in 1990. She is its namesake and the Race Chairperson, as well as a two- time cancer survivor of 13 years. When she was first diagnosed with cancer back in 1999, her positive outlook and resolve in beating cancer made a big impression on Russ Pugh. One year later, Barb’s Race was born.

This half iron distance event offers women a chance to push their limits in a inclusive environment while raising funds for cancer charities.

I have had the pleasure of competing in Barb’s Race and the experience is so much different than any other half I have done. The camaraderie among the women is simply phenomenal. It is both competitive and friendly. Racing for a cause bigger than the time on the clock is an exceptional experience.
