6 Be Prepared

Triathlon Magazine Canada - - FEATURE -

Triathlon requires organization. The multiplicity of the sport calls for planning and logistics. Add in nutritional considerations, strength workouts and physical therapy sessions and the calendar fills up quickly. The more prepared you can be with race scheduling, training gear, recovery modalities and travel plans, the more you will enjoy the process of the sport. Spread your races out far enough to properly prepare, execute and recover from each. Review your race calendar on a regular basis so you can anticipate what needs to get done before race day. This might include food preparation, mechanical adjustments on your bike, investing in new goggles, working out the kinks in new racing flats or fixing a tear in your wetsuit. Be prepared so your focus is on execution not damage control.
