2 Be Selective (and Scheduled)
Pull up all the race calendars that intrigue you. Some may be close to home, some may require travel and some may involve logistics and adventure. Have your work and family schedule in hand so you can select races that limit compromise on both fronts. Being free from outside commitments allows you to toe the start line with less anxiety. Racing is stressful enough on its own and should be respected for the systems it taxes. Make the race experience all encompassing by reducing unnecessary distractions and commitments elsewhere.
