4 Be Single
A great way to build fitness in one specific sport is to race single sport events. Be it a masters swim event, a time trial or a 10 km running race, single sport events offer an opportunity to focus on a limiter or can take the place of a tough workout that you would otherwise do alone. If strategically plotted into your calendar, try to have a short taper and recover properly from these efforts so as not to interrupt your training for an extended period. With one or two short course triathlons (Sprint or Olympic Distance), intermixed with one or two single sport races, you will arrive at your primary goal event prepared and ready to go hard.
