Athletes enter the swim corral on Main Beach in front of the Boardwalk Bandstand. The 1.5 km swim takes place in the Monterey Bay and heads clockwise around the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, a perfect spot for spectators to cheer and watch the first leg of the race. As the swimmers round the tip of the wharf to head towards the Cowell’s Beach exit, simply walk to the other side wharf and follow your favourite athlete all the way in.

The 40 km bike ride meanders through a beautiful neighborhood before heading north on the Pacific Coast Highway to the turn around in the quaint town of Davenport. Be sure to take-in the spectacular ocean views along the way.

Most of the out-and-back 10 km run is on West Cliff Drive overlooking the Pacific Ocean. In addition to the inspiring views, athletes will run by the Santa Cruz Surf Museum/Lighthouse and Natural Bridges State Park.
