The new Polar M450 GPS bike computer is set to rival Garmin’s many options but at a much lower price point. It features many of functions of a mid-range computer including a fast satellite connecting GPS, precision barometer for altitude reading and heart rate. Its Fitness and Orthostatic Tests, as well as its ability to track training loads and recovery time, make it easy to optimize training and racing goals. The M450 is Bluetooth compatible. While it is not ANT+ compatible (no Polar products are), many power meters are now coming out with dual compatibility. The battery life is long (12 to 17 hours) which means it’s perfect for Ironman training. The twist-mount lock system is easy and secure. A slightly angled screen makes the M450 easy to read, as does the sharp contrast of the screen. The M450 packs a big punch for its compact package.
