Lunchtime swim­mers with a nar­row win­dow to steal away from their desks need to max­i­mize their time in the pool. Here are three swim sets de­signed for an ef­fi­cient re­turn on your train­ing in­vest­ments.

MAIN SET

8 x 100 m @ 1:45 – use the first four to warm up then set­tle into a strong 400-m pace. At­tempt to hold that pace for the re­main­der of the ses­sion. Sub­tract 5 sec for each sub­se­quent set.
