Suunto Spartan Ultra

Triathlon Magazine Canada - - FEATURES -

Hand made in Finland, Suunto’s new watch is an option for those who want a high powered multisport

watch and would like to be different from the rest of their training group using a Garmin. Available in a variety of options, the Ultra is the top of the line Spartan that’s water resistant to 100 m (seems close enough to water proof to us) and offers a whopping 26 hours of battery life in training mode. There are 80 pre-set sport modes and it can even connect with Bluetooth enabled power-meter pedals so you can truly use this as your one and only sports-measuring device.

The colour touch screen is a nice…touch. You can easily scroll through the various screens to set yourself up for your next workout, and the screen is really easy to see regardless of the light conditions. The Spartan is easy to connect to your computer to download your workout data to Suunto’s own Movescount software, which allows you to easily track workouts and also transfer your workouts to Training Peaks, if that’s the training software you’re using.

The Spartan is also really comfortable and stylish on the wrist and can easily double as your everyday watch. It keeps track of how much you’ve been moving around and also lets you know when you’ve been sitting for too long. For those looking for a watch that can monitor all your activities and also looks sharp as your day-to-day watch, the Spartan is worth a look.
