Smith Podium TT Mips

Triathlon Magazine Canada - - WARM-UP -

$420 Thanks to its lightweight aerocore construction, the Podium TT is one of the lightest aero helmets we’ve ever tried. Don’t let the light weight fool you into thinking you’ll be skimping on protection, though – the aerocore design, EPS foam and Mips technology provide lots of crash protection.

Unlike other sleek aero helmets we’ve used, the Podium is incredibly comfortable to both pull on and wear. The Vaporfit system allows you to dial in a comfortable snug fit, while optimally placed pads offer a surprising amount of breathable cushioning. There are a couple of small vents in the front to let air in, which is channelled past your head to two huge vents that are covered in the Koroyd material which allows the air to escape, but maintains the aero qualities of the helmet.

The Podium comes with two visors that magnetically clip on. One features Smith’s Chromapop lens that enhances clarity and colours, while there’s also a clear lens, too, for overcast or rainy days.

As is the trend these days, the Podium doesn’t have a huge tail – its small profile both keeps it very light and ensures that you’re not going to be catching any adverse wind when you duck your head down.—tmc
