ALEXAN­DRIA | Trai­ning camp is al­most done and the main ros­ter is sha­ping up for the Glens in Alexan­dria. The team ra­cked up two vic­to­ries against the Cla­rence Castors last week and players are ready to re­lax a bit with the sea­son ope­ner bar­be­cue this Sun­day at Char­trand’s YIG. The event is al­so a meet and greet with the players and an op­por­tu­ni­ty to chat ho­ckey with the ve­te­rans and green horn roo­kies.

Fif­teen players are al­rea­dy confir­med for the 2014-2015 ros­ter, in­clu­ding re­tur­ning de­fen­ce­man Da­vid Si­rois, the Sa­bou­rin pack with Pierre-Luc, Tris­tan and Ryan and al­so for­ward Adam Cooke, Lu­ca Ciale and d-man Maxime St-Georges. In goals, Cal­lum Cas­si­dy-Matthews, who with 7 of his 11 starts in the Coast-to-Coast Sum­mer League will team up with Ni­cho­las Ma­heux, who played 20 games last year with the ju­nior C Gatineau Olym­piques of the Na­tio­nal Ca­pi­tal Ju­nior Ho­ckey League and a few games for the Ju­nior B Gatineau Mus­tangs.

The tail­gate par­ty will start at 10 a.m. on Sa­tur­day and the Glens will have a sur­prise for the fans du­ring the event. The Glens’ first re­gu­lar game is sche­du­led for Sep­tem­ber 19, at 8 p.m. at the Glen­gar­ry Sports Pa­lace. The Mor­ris­burg Lions, whom the Glens beat 3-2 in over­time last winter, will be in town. The day af­ter, the Glens will face their good old ri­vals from Char-Lan, the Re­bels.

At press time Thurs­day, the Glens were ready to jump on the ice for one fi­nal pre­sea­son game against the Gatineau Mus­tangs.
