PO­LICE INVESTIGATING DROWNING

Po­lice and fi­re­figh­ters re­co­ve­red the bo­dy of a man be­lie­ved to have drow­ned in the Ot­ta­wa Ri­ver over the June 2 wee­kend. At about 12:45 p.m. Sa­tur­day, the OPP de­tach­ment and the Haw­kes­bu­ry Fire De­part­ment re­cei­ved re­ports of a man who had di­sap­pea­red un­der­wa­ter in the Ot­ta­wa Ri­ver, so­mew­here east of Haw­kes­bu­ry. Po­lice and fi­re­figh­ters sear­ched along the ri­ver. At about 2:40 p.m., the bo­dy of a 57-year-old man was lo­ca­ted. The name of the de­cea­sed was not re­lea­sed. An OPP in­ci­dent news re­lease sta­ted that foul play is not sus­pec­ted in the drowning in­ci­dent. – Gregg Cham­ber­lain
