The Legion will contact the officials with the 57 Vankleek Hill Army Cadets Corp. to provide cadets to ring the bells at participating churches. Other official Remembrance Day ceremonies scheduled for earlier in the day will take place as usual.
The ringing of church bells in celebration marked the end of both World Wars in countries like Canada. The Bells of Peace Initiative is intended to be a one-time event for this year in Canada.
