Lanceleve re­turn­ing to Europe next sea­son

For­mer Bearcat to play in France’s sec­ond di­vi­sion

Colby Lanceleve is the new­est mem­ber of the Mar­seille Spar­tans pro­fes­sional hockey team.

Lanceleve, 22, will skate next sea­son with the Spar­tans in France’s sec­ond di­vi­sion.

“I’m ex­cited to go and I re­ally en­joyed play­ing and liv­ing in France last year,” said Lanceleve, of Stewiacke. “I’m glad to go back to a city that looks so beau­ti­ful.”

Lanceleve be­gan his pro­fes­sional ca­reer last sea­son in Europe with the Sports

Club Csik­sz­ereda in Ro­ma­nia and fin­ished with the Lyon

Lions, in France. Mar­seille fin­ished sixth in the reg­u­lar sea­son in its pool last sea­son and was sixth out of 16 teams in play­offs.

“They have been hav­ing strong sea­sons, and if we fin­ish first this year, we will move up into the first di­vi­sion,” Lanceleve said.

In his 30 games in Europe, Lanceleve to­talled 21 points.

Lanceleve, a speedy for­ward, played four sea­sons for the Truro Bearcats ju­nior A team from 2011 to 2015.

Dur­ing his time with the Bearcats, he tal­lied 121 points in 182 games.

Lanceleve will be joined in Mar­seille this sea­son by for­mer Truro team­mate Jor­dan McNaughton. The 23-year-old de­fence­man from Komoka, Ont., played for Truro from 2013 to 2015.
