Arthur Ger­ard “Art” McDon­ald

McDON­ALD, Arthur Ger­ard “Art” – 80, passed away peace­fully, after a sud­den ill­ness, on Tues­day morn­ing, Au­gust 29, 2017, at Colch­ester East Hants Health Cen­tre, Truro.

Born in Char­lot­te­town, Prince Ed­ward Is­land, he was a son of the late Owen and Mae (Coyle) McDon­ald.

Art worked his en­tire life as an En­gi­neer with CNR and was a war and his­tory buff be­yond what words can de­scribe; he took great plea­sure in read­ing war and his­tory books.

Art is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife, Vi­ola “Vi” (Weir) McDon­ald; step chil­dren, Roger Priest, Truro; Nancy (Pat) MacEach­ern, Na­pean, On­tario; step grand­chil­dren, Shelby and Robert MacEach­ern. Along with his par­ents, he was pre­de­ceased by his brother, Phillip “Sonny” (Joan) McDon­ald.

Pri­vate in­ter­ment will be held in Robie Street Ceme­tery. If so de­sired, do­na­tions in Art’s me­mory to Heart and Stroke Foun­da­tion of Nova Sco­tia are wel­comed. Ar­range­ments have been en­trusted to Mat­tatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
