Italy seeks to lengthen Errani’s ban
ROME — Italy’s anti-doping agency is appealing to lengthen the two-month ban handed to former French Open finalist Sara Errani.
NADO Italia — which operates independently from the Italian Olympic Committee — filed a “statement of appeal” with the Switzerland-based Court of Arbitration for Sport, without specifying how long of a ban it is seeking.
Errani blamed food contamination from her mother’s breast cancer medication after testing positive for the banned substance letrozole in a test taken in February. Errani’s ban expires on Oct. 2.
