Woman caught driv­ing 180 km/h on High­way 103

LUNEN­BURG, N.S. – A Lunen­burg County woman was charged with stunt­ing Tues­day af­ter she was caught driv­ing 180 km/h on High­way 103 in Heb­bville.

The 22-year-old woman had three peo­ple in the ve­hi­cle with her when she was stopped by po­lice at about 12:50 p.m., RCMP said in a news re­lease.

The speed limit in the area is 100 km/h.

In ad­di­tion to be­ing charged with stunt­ing, the woman had her driver’s li­cence sus­pended for seven days and her ve­hi­cle was seized. Un­der the pro­vin­cial Mo­tor Ve­hi­cle Act, the ne for stunt­ing, or go­ing more than 50 km/h over the speed limit, is $2,422.50.

The re­lease said RCMP re­mind the pub­lic that speed is one of the ma­jor causes of se­ri­ous in­jury and fa­tal col­li­sions. Any­one who sees some­one driv­ing un­safely is asked to con­tact RCMP at 1-800-803-7267 or call 911.
