Sch­mitt wins gold with N.S. un­der-14 team

TRURO, N.S. — Bi­ble Hill’s Bray­den Sch­mitt helped Nova Sco­tia cap­ture gold in the un­der14 male di­vi­sion at the re­cent At­lantic Chal­lenge Cup hockey tour­na­ment in Monc­ton. Nova Sco­tia posted a 3-1-1 record and de­feated P.E.I. 9-4 in the fi­nal. Sch­mitt, a de­fence­man who plays for the Truro Bearcats ma­jor ban­tam team, had a goal and an as­sist.

In the un­der-15 di­vi­sion, forward Ja­cob Me­lan­son of the Bearcats ma­jor ban­tam squad, earned gold with Nova Sco­tia.

The Amherst res­i­dent had two goals and four as­sists as his team went 5-0 and de­feated New­found­land 7-2 in the gold-medal game.

In the un­der-18 fe­male di­vi­sion, Bi­ble Hill forward Mad­die Quinn and Onslow de­fence­man Lind­say Smith were on Nova Sco­tia’s bronze-medal win­ning team. Quinn had a goal for the Bluenose squad, which posted a record of 3-2.
