Woman placed on pro­ba­tion for theft

TRURO, N.S. – An In­dian Brook woman who pled guilty to nu­mer­ous counts of theft was given a sus­pended sen­tence and placed on pro­ba­tion for 12 months dur­ing sen­tenc­ing this week. Gwynne Cather­ine Sack, 31, of Po­lar Street, pled guilty to five sep­a­rate counts of theft from re­tail lo­ca­tions in Truro, Brook­field, Dart­mouth and Hal­i­fax be­tween Aug and Septem­ber 2016. One of the thefts in­volved a 60 oz. bot­tle of vodka from Roops Ser­vice Cen­tre in Brook­field. Sack also pled guilty to breach­ing a pre­vi­ous pro­ba­tion or­der and two counts of breach­ing court un­der­tak­ings.

Her pro­ba­tion con­di­tions in­clude suc­cess­fully tak­ing coun­selling for al­co­hol con­sump­tion and drug use and for men­tal health is­sues as di­rected.
