Village Line to receive new stretch of sidewalk

TRURO, N.S. — Atlantic Road Constructi­on of Eastern Passage beat out six other companies in the bidding for constructi­on of a new sidewalk on Village Line.

The project involves constructi­on of 800 metres of sidewalk along Village Line from Pictou Road to College Road.

Atlantic Road Constructi­on won the tender with a low bid of $557,895 (excluding the HST cost of $83,684.25).

The difference in bids, from lowest to highest, was $268,605. Colchester County Council had approved a capital cost for the project of $800,000, with half of the costs being funded by the Village of Bible Hill.

Other project costs factored in with that figure include $5,000 for materials testing, $10,000 (staff time) and $23,911 (rebated tax). The project is to be completed by mid-september.
