Roy, Douglas Churchill, 81, Cen­tral Onslow, passed away peace­fully on Septem­ber 9, 2018 in Colch­ester East Hants Health Cen­tre with fam­ily by his side. Born in Liver­pool, N.S., he was the son of the late Churchill and Essie Belle (Matthews) Roy. Doug was a life­time truck driver, serv­ing sev­eral com­pa­nies in­clud­ing be­ing the owner-op­er­a­tor of Douglas

Roy Truck­ing. He was a sta­tion­ary en­gi­neer at the NSAC and Cross­ley Car­pet un­til the time of his re­tire­ment. He en­joyed shing, bow-hunt­ing, skiing with his grand­chil­dren and spend­ing qual­ity time with his fam­ily. He loved fam­ily camp­ing trips and spent sev­eral win­ters in Florida. He was a de­voted hus­band, fa­ther and grand­fa­ther. He is sur­vived by his wife of 61 years, Mary (John­son); chil­dren, Deb­bie ( Brian) Mc­mas­ter, Amherst, Linda ( Ricky) Lynds, Truro, Stephen ( Shel­ley), Truro, Mary-jane ( Alan) Mc­nutt, Tata­m­agouche, Pa­tri­cia Roy, Westville; broth­ers, Thomas, East Port Le He­bert, Wayne ( Carol), Val­ley; 12 grand­chil­dren; 20 great grand­chil­dren. Be­sides his par­ents, he was pre­de­ceased by broth­ers, Robert and Ran­dolph and great grand­child, Oak­ley. Cre­ma­tion has taken place with ar­range­ments hav­ing been taken care of by Colch­ester Com­mu­nity Fu­neral Home, 512 Wil­low St., Truro. A grave­side ser­vice will be held on Satur­day, Septem­ber 15th at 11 a.m. in Bi­ble Hill Ceme­tery, 41 War­ren Dr., Bi­ble Hill with Rev. Glenn Ma­clean of­fi­ci­at­ing. Spe­cial thanks to the com­mu­nity and CEHHC Pal­lia­tive Care staff. Fol­low­ing the grave­side ser­vice, fam­ily and friends are in­vited to a time of fel­low­ship at 797 Brook­side Road, Up­per Brook­side, N. S.
