2018 Uw­fundrais­ing goal set at $275,000

Cam­paign Co- Chairs Raj Makkar and Dr. Ryan Som­mers were on hand to of­fi­cially launched the United Way of Colch­ester’s an­nual fundrais­ing cam­paign.

The 2018 cam­paign is about un­leash­ing the power of love to cre­ate pos­i­tive change, and this year’s fundrais­ing goal is $275,000.

Ann Ames-war­man, women’s out­reach worker with Third Place Tran­si­tion House, was the guest speaker for the event.

“The sup­port of United Way has helped us as­sist so many women and youth over the years,” she said. “It has been in­stru­men­tal in chang­ing lives and, in some cases, sav­ing lives. If you ever ques­tion the value of your con­tri­bu­tions, I can as­sure you, they are a real gift to this lo­cal com­mu­nity and its ci­ti­zens in more ways than you can imag­ine.”

Terry Hearn, ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the United Way of Colch­ester, high­lighted the work United Way has funded or fa­cil­i­tated in the area dur­ing the past year.

Janet Gay, 2017 cam­paign chair, and Don Cameron, cam­paign team mem­ber, pre­sented the Top Work­place Award to RBC/RBC Do­min­ion Se­cu­ri­ties, and the Top Cor­po­rate Award to Sco­tia­bank.
