CEC eye­ing top spot in the con­fer­ence

e Cobe­quid Cougars look to take over sole pos­ses­sion of rst place in the Sco­tia Con­fer­ence this week­end when they host the CP Allen Chee­tahs in Nova Sco­tia high school foot­ball ac­tion.

Sun­day’s open­ing kick­off is slated for 1 p.m. at James MacPher­son Sta­dium.

CEC and CPA are tied for top spot in the con­fer­ence with records of 3-1.

e Cougars en­ter the matchup af­ter a 50-7 rout of the Prince An­drew Pan­thers last Sun­day.

CEC run­ning back An­drew Floyd ran for 147 yards on 10 car­ries and scored two rush­ing touch­downs. He added an­other on a one-yard re­cep­tion.

Quar­ter­back Michael Adams was 4-of-7 pass­ing for 67 yards and two TD tosses. He also gained 28 yards on three car­ries. Backup pivot Craig Ta­bor was 4-of-4 pass­ing for 36 yards and two ma­jor strikes.

Other CEC of­fen­sive high­lights came from Torro Gabrielli (six car­ries, 116 yards, one TD), Braden Gray (four catches, 54 yards, one TD), Charles Toole (four catches, 54 yards, one TD) re­cep­tion and Owen Sell­ers (one catch, 20 yards, one TD).

De­fen­sively, line­backer Jor­dan Waller had four tack­les, while Adams – while play­ing de­fen­sive back – added four tack­les and had an in­ter­cep­tion. Ivan Gault added three tack­les and Josh Benoit had one tackle and one in­ter­cep­tion.

CEC led 28-7 at half­time.
