Bearcats host­ing pair of week­end games

The Truro Bearcats re­turn home for a pair of di­vi­sional games in the Mar­itime Ju­nior Hockey League this week­end.

The Bearcats host the Yar­mouth Mariners on Fri­day and the Pic­tou County Weeks Crush­ers on Satur­day. Both games start at 7 p.m. at the Rath Eastlink Com­mu­nity Cen­tre.

Truro (3-2-0-0) is third in the Eastlink South Divi­sion, two points be­hind sec­ond-place Amherst (4-10-0) and seven back of un­de­feated Yar­mouth (6-0-0-0).

The Bearcats en­ter Fri­day’s con­test af­ter a 4-1 loss to the Mariners last Satur­day in Yar­mouth. Kyle Sex­ton had the lone Truro goal in that con­test.

On Sept. 27, the Bearcats downed the Crush­ers 5-1, one night af­ter a 5-0 home-ice loss to the Ram­blers.

Gavin Hart struck for a pair of goals for the Bearcats at the Pic­tou County Well­ness Cen­tre. Lauchie Mac­don­ald, G Black­more and Car­son Lanceleve, on a pow­er­play, also scored for the vis­i­tors.

Evan Maclennan was the lone Pic­tou County shooter able to solve Bearcats goal­tender Alec Mac­don­ald, who made 27 saves.
