Fund ‘rais­ing’ the Roof helps out Knox church

BROOK­FIELD, N.S. — They’re fundrais­ing the roof at Knox United Church.

On Satur­day, Nov. 3, from 7-9 p.m., a con­cert and dance will be held at the Brook­field church to raise money for re-shin­gling. The Metro New Hori­zons Jazz Band will per­form with Lori Nielsen. She will be featured as a soloist, and will also per­form with her daugh­ter Erica Nielsen as part of a vo­cal quar­tet. Mu­sic will in­clude a mix of big band jazz clas­sics like In the Mood, with the vo­cal quar­tet singing with the band on Chat­tanooga Choo-choo, I Got a Gal in Kala­ma­zoo and Choo Choo Ch’ Boo­gie. Lori will be featured on Amy Wine­house’s ver­sion of Our Day Will Come, Cher’s The Shoop Shoop Song and Natalie Cole’s What A Di er­ence a Day Makes. In­stru­men­tals in­clude sev­eral pop­u­lar songs like Phar­rell Wil­liams’s Happy, ABBA’S Mamma Mia, Van Mor­ri­son’s Moon­dance, Sting’s Fields of Gold and Phil Collins’s Easy Lover. There will also be clas­sic Bea­tles songs. Ad­mis­sion is $10 at the door.
