Truro Junior Curling Club recruiting new members
Post-grand Slam membership boost is expected
The Truro Junior Curling Club is again recruiting new members, but thistime it’s in the recent wake of last week’s Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling’ Canadian Beef Masters.
Children and youths age seven to 21 can sign up for curling instruction, practice and twiceweekly game nights as of this week.
“I think we’re going to get a few more because of the Grand Slam,” said club chairman Craig Burgess. “We did last time in 2015. We saw an increase in brand new people, including more adults. There were a lot of people who signed up for the adult section.”
Youths can attend the club after school. Curling instruction is held every Tuesday. Wednesday is team practice and games are on Mondays and Thursdays. Children under 11 in the prejunior category have a special session on Fridays. Club games begin today, Nov. 1.
Fees are $55 per season for under-11s and $105 for those over 11. Equipment such as rocks and brooms are provided for members.
