New ex­hibit Brianne Wil­liams set­ting up her art in Ch­ester


Young artist Brianne Wil­liams, who loves the sea, is hav­ing a show in Ch­ester this sum­mer with fel­low artist Shel­ley Mitchell.

The open­ing is set for June 29, start­ing at 6 p.m. The ex­hibit will run un­til July 12 at the Am­i­cus Gallery at 20 Pleas­ant St. in Ch­ester.

Wil­liams, who grew up in Coldbrook, will have nine paint­ings in the show.

“Shel­ley is an artist I have ad­mired for years, and I am be­yond thrilled to have my work along­side hers. We both take in­spira- tion from the sea, and I think our work will com­ple­ment each oth­ers per­fectly,” Wil­liams said.

Wil­liams is also ex­cited to be show­cas­ing her work in Ch­ester.

“The South Shore is my favourite place. It has in­flu­enced of my work, and shaped me as a vis­ual artist,” she says.

Wil­liams of­ten finds her in­spi­ra­tion at wharves in places like Ch­ester, New Glas­gow and Kings County. Re­cently she cre- ated a se­ries fo­cused on women and wa­ter.

A grad­u­ate of the Nova Sco­tia Col­lege of Art and De­sign, she was se­lected for the fi­nal CBC/ Feed Nova Sco­tia cal­en­dar for 2015.

The for­mer an artist-in-res­i­dence in the town of New Glas­gow had a solo show at Ar­gyle Fine Art in Hal­i­fax two years ago.
