New exhibit Brianne Williams setting up her art in Chester
Young artist Brianne Williams, who loves the sea, is having a show in Chester this summer with fellow artist Shelley Mitchell.
The opening is set for June 29, starting at 6 p.m. The exhibit will run until July 12 at the Amicus Gallery at 20 Pleasant St. in Chester.
Williams, who grew up in Coldbrook, will have nine paintings in the show.
“Shelley is an artist I have admired for years, and I am beyond thrilled to have my work alongside hers. We both take inspira- tion from the sea, and I think our work will complement each others perfectly,” Williams said.
Williams is also excited to be showcasing her work in Chester.
“The South Shore is my favourite place. It has influenced of my work, and shaped me as a visual artist,” she says.
Williams often finds her inspiration at wharves in places like Chester, New Glasgow and Kings County. Recently she cre- ated a series focused on women and water.
A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, she was selected for the final CBC/ Feed Nova Scotia calendar for 2015.
The former an artist-in-residence in the town of New Glasgow had a solo show at Argyle Fine Art in Halifax two years ago.
