Avon River Rats de­feat East­ern Shore in a ma­jor way after three losses

The Avon River Rats lost three games to the East­ern Shore Thun­der by scores of 3-1, 6-3 and 10-1 in Nova Sco­tia Re­gional Ju­nior Hockey League play this sea­son.

But they man­aged to change things around dur­ing the Oct. 29 game in Wind­sor.

The River Rats took a 5-2 first pe­riod lead, scor­ing twice more in the sec­ond, and then ran over the Thun­der rink the third pe­riod with five more goals for a con­vinc­ing 12-2 win.

Kyle Armswor­thy led the way for Avon with a five-point night on a goal while gar­ner­ing four as­sists.

Devon Pen­nell scored three times, one in each pe­riod, and added an as­sist.

Lo­gan Cleveland added a pair, with sin­gles go­ing to Justin MacLel­lan, who also added three as­sists, as well as Josh De­mont, Nathan Shanks, Tyler Comeau, Adam Fer­gu­son, and Tyler Lapierre.

Carter McMullin stopped 27 of 29 shots he faced for the River Rats in nets.

The win tied the Rats with the Thun­der for sec­ond place with 12 points, five back from the first place Spry­field At­tack.
