Scott’s Bay best­selling au­thor, Ami McKay, will be one of three par­tic­i­pat­ing authors at Read for the Cure in Van­cou­ver Nov. 8. It will be held at the Mar­riott Pin­na­cle Ho­tel with Sari Lapena and Roberta Rick. Tick­ets in­clude ap­pe­tiz­ers, pre­sen­ta­tions, Q&A and take home signed book copies. It is be­ing held in sup­port of the Can­cer Re­search So­ci­ety.

Ross Creek Cen­tre is of­fer­ing PD day camps, ages 5-12, Nov. 10 and 30, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. There will also be a com­mu­nity arts day Nov. 26, 1-4 p.m. that will ex­plore Ja­panese Cul­ture, fea­ture a va­ri­ety of art ac­tiv­i­ties and treats for all ages. Par­tic­i­pants can try wood block-in­spired print­mak­ing, Sumi-e books, colour­ful ki­monos and much more, all while sam­pling some tra­di­tional street food fare. Free ad­mis­sion. 902-582-3842.
