Dis­pute in down­town Kentville re­sults in knife wounds

Ag­gra­vated as­sault charge laid af­ter al­ter­ca­tion be­tween two men

A 25-year-old man is fac­ing charges of ag­gra­vated as­sault and pos­ses­sion of a weapon for a dan­ger­ous pur­pose fol­low­ing a pub­lic al­ter­ca­tion in Kentville.

Kentville Po­lice was called to Web­ster Street shortly af­ter 9 a.m. March 1 to as­sist with a dis­pute in­volv­ing three males.

“When po­lice ar­rived, a 29-yearold male vic­tim was lo­cated suf­fer­ing from non-life threat­en­ing knife wounds. He was trans­ported to the Val­ley Re­gional Hospi­tal for treat­ment,” said Kentville Po­lice Ser­vice Chief Ju­lia Cec­chetto in a me­dia re­lease is­sued shortly be­fore noon March 1.

Around 9:40 a.m., sev­eral drops of blood were vis­i­ble on the side­walk be­tween the Cen­tre Square Tim Hor­tons and the nearby CIBC, and of­fi­cers could be seen gath­er­ing in­for­ma­tion in the area.

The 25-year-old sus­pect was found on Prospect Av­enue. He was ar­rested, and ex­pected to ap­pear in Kentville pro­vin­cial court later that same day.

“The par­ties are known to each other and this was not a ran­dom act,” said Cec­chetto.
