One dead, two in­jured fol­low­ing head-on col­li­sion in Mill Sec­tion

Mo­torists look­ing to take Chester Road faced a long de­tour Aug. 24 as they were rerouted due to a se­ri­ous mo­tor ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent in Mill Sec­tion.

Fire­fight­ers, paramedics and RCMP of­fi­cers were called out to the scene around 2:10 p.m.

Deputy fire chief Paul May­nard, of the Hantsport Fire Depart­ment, said fire­fight­ers from Brook­lyn, Hantsport, and South­west Hants sta­tions re­sponded to the call.

The ac­ci­dent in­volved a head-on col­li­sion be­tween two ve­hi­cles on High­way 14.

“We had to per­form ex­tri­ca­tion on both ve­hi­cles. There were three pa­tients in to­tal,” said May­nard.

RCMP con­firmed at 6:15 p.m. that one per­son in­volved in the ac­ci­dent died. De­tails on the ex­tent of the in­juries sus­tained by the other peo­ple is un­known at this time, how­ever, Life Flight landed at the Vaughan he­li­pad and trans­ported one of the pa­tients to the QEII hospi­tal.

De­tours re­mained in place un­til a col­li­sion anal­y­sist had the chance to in­ves­ti­gate the ac­ci­dent.
